Richard Is Back

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Making one’s own wounds a source of healing, therefore, does not call for a sharing of superficial personal pains but for a constant willingness to see one’s own pain and suffering as rising from the depth of the human condition which all men share.
Henry J. M. Nouwen

A lot has happened in the last couple of years.  I had a stroke in 2018, and Winnie and I both have had various medical problems and have been in the hospital more than once, had multiple doctors appointments, and physical therapy appointments.  I have had several post stroke events, and one that led to an accident and thus to me not being able to drive.  On the good side, over that time I have been meeting with two really good life coaches, both of whom have challenged me to get back to my writing among other things.  So thanks in large part to both of them, and of course to the Divine Mystery, Richard is back.

Interestingly my wife and I and my downs syndrome son, Mark get together most  evenings for meditation and prayer.  During the prayer time he, on his own, mentions each person in our family and what they need.  When he gets to me he always says something like “Help Daddy with his book".  He came up with that on his own.  I guess he overheard Winnie and I talking about it and just started praying about it.  So here I sit, working on my blog and my new book.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you, and I look forward to you making comments and sharing your own thoughts with me.  I trust that some of my posts will help you on your journey, and that your comments will help me on mine.
